Managing Your Diabetes
History tells that before the discovery of insulin in 1921, all those people who were diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes died within few years. As we know that insulin is not a cure but a way to control the ailment, it has played major role in treating diabetes
Today physician suggest that insulin accompanied with healthy diet and exercise is the best way to tackle Type 1 diabetes. Other medicines may be suggested as per the requirement of the patient. It is necessary that the patient must manage a balance between the insulin and the food. Blood glucose levels must be checked regularly.
In Type 2, regular blood glucose testing, exercise and healthy food is considered as a treatment. To control blood glucose levels some medicines like pills, injections and insulin is suggested.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is likely to develop in adults diagnosed with diabetes. Heart stroke and heart disease is the cause of killing 60 per cent of diabetes patients. Managing diabetes is more important then maintaining the glucose blood levels. Cholesterol level and blood pressure should also be kept under strict control. Quitting smoking and aspirin therapy can also be helpful.
Blood glucose level must be controlled so it should neither be too high or too low. If a diabetes patient has lower blood glucose level then he or she suffers from a condition known as hypoglycemia in which a person gets nervous, confused and shaky. Fainting and false judgment also occur.
